Sir Big Spur

Sir Big Spur VII is the official live mascot of South Carolina Athletics. Sir Big Spur VII and his predecessors are an Old English Black Breasted Red Fighting Gamecock. Sir Big Spur made his debut for the Garnet & Black in 1999, first at home football games. In 2006, he made his first football appearance at Williams-Brice Stadium. Today, you can see Sir Big Spur on the sidelines at all home football games and most away football games as well as some home baseball games. In addition to making appearances at sporting events, Sir Big Spur will make appearances at other events including Gamecock Club events, ESPN College GameDay, private personal and corporate events and other events when possible.

Live Mascot Fund

The Sir Big Spur Live Mascot Fund was established to help support and grow the live mascot program. Donations to the Live Mascot Fund go directly toward assisting in the care of Sir Big Spur including veterinary expenses, improvement to living quarters and travel accommodations for Sir Big Spur. Appearance Requests

When available, Sir Big Spur will make appearances at community and private events upon request. Appearances are determined around the USC and Athletic schedules. Appearances last no more than 90 minutes, unless mutually agreed upon between the event and the caretakers. If you are interested in having Sir Big Spur make an appearance at your event, please fill out the information below.

Appearance Fees

• University of South Carolina Campus Events: $350
• Public/Community Events: $500
• Private Events (parties, weddings, etc.): $500 to $1,000

Appearances over 90 miles from the Clark’s Farm near Edgefield, SC may also incur additional travel fees, including but not limited to hotel accommodations.
